Here Are Your 2015 XRCO Award Winners!
Anyway, this year was a lot of firsts. This was the first year that the ceremony was held at Lure, this was the first time the show was held on a weekend night, this was the first time it was recorded in 3-D (how cool is that viewing experience?) and this was the first year of the new trophy design which I must say looks amazing.
Everyone who is everyone in the industry was there: Ron Jeremy, Kissa and Johnny Sins, Jacky St. James, Will Ryder, Misty Stone, Wolf Hudson, James Deen and Ela Darling who I talked to for a while and found out that we're both big bookworms. She couldn't have been nicer.
Okay, now children listen up for a little history lesson before we get on to the winners:
Called an x-rated version of The Academy Awards, the XRCO were founded in 1984 as a way to give writers and critics of adult entertainment a voice and an opportunity to nominate scenes, films and industry professionals for awards with the first ceremony being held on Valentine's Day of 1985. It was a tradition for the awards to be presented on Valentine's Day until 1991.
The ceremony has also been called the critics choice awards for porn and has been described as "a combination high-school beer bash, Mardi Gras and Frederick's Of Hollywood lingerie show" and they aren't lying. This was one of the most fun times I've ever had.
Jim Holliday is often considered the founding father of The XRCO's along with James Avalon. After Holliday passed away, his position was filled by founding member Bill Margold until 2006. In 2004 the original chairman, Jared Rutter stepped down. The two current co-chairmen are Dick Freeman and Dirty Bob Krotts.
All of the members of XRCO are writers from various publications and internet sites dedicated to writing about and reviewing adult entertainment. There are no membership fees to join and in 2005 the first European member was added.
Currently there are 27 categories and the hall of fame.
Alright, enough history. Now onto the ceremony!
This year's ceremony was hosted by Jules Jordan contract girl Jessie and Thomas Ward known for his role in the Not The Cosbys series. And let me tell you this man is hilarious and does Billy Cosby better than Billy Cosby! The beautiful Dylan Phoenix and Kissa Sins were this year's Heart-On Girls.
The evening started off with the new XRCO Hall Of Fame Inductees: Jeff Mullen AKA Will Ryder, Karen Summer, Stoney Curtis, Melissa Hill, Jim Dawson, John Seeman, Lasse Braun and Seymour Satin were all inducted. Seymour was inducted for hosting Porn Star Karaoke at Sardo's since 2003 and it was touching to hear Axel Braun talk about his iconic father as he inducted him into the hall of fame; rest in peace Lasse. And I must say I love what Melissa Hill said during her speech: ""Don't do anything you don't want to do. Stay true to yourself because at the end of the day, and for the rest of your life, the only person you have to live with is yourself." So very true.
